RAMON CRATER JEEP TOURS
RAMON CRATER (Makhtesh Ramon) is the largest erosion crater in the world.
A unique landscape, offering a rare geological window going back about 450 million years to earth's history.

Our Ramon Crater tour starts at the city of Mitzpe Ramon, overlooking 350 meters above the enormous valley of the crater. We will drive down into the crater, visiting some key points, such as Wadi Ramon dry riverbed, Mount Gvanim that offers a great view point, and others.
​
On the tour we will learn about the creation of this rare geological phenomena, and about the special desert eco-system, about flash floods and about desert plants that thrive even in the extreme conditions of the desert.
​
We will see and touch colorful sand stone walls, magmatic rock hills and deformed layers of limestone rock, dated back to the great Tethis sea.
​
The basic tour is approximately 2-3 hours long, and does not include any extreme hikes.
​
The cool and dry weather of high altitude allows this area to be ideal for exploration all year long.
